We've all seen how the Raimi brothers created the magnificent Evil Dead trilogy and got even more popular for creating the Spider Man trilogy. Some people wondered if they would ever make an horror movie again... Well they did. And they did pretty damn good.
Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home. In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell.
Alison Lohman (Beowulf, Big Fish, Matchstick Men) delivers a fine performance as a leading actress and is well supported by a couple of brilliant actors. Justin Long (Dodgeball, The Break Up, Die Hard 4) and David Paymer (In Good Company, Resurrecting the Champ, Redbelt) are both great in this movie, but Lorna Raver (who appeared in countless TV-series) steals the show as the mysterious Mrs. Ganush.
That's all I'm going to say, I just hope you'll go see this great movie. The Raimi brothers have written a true masterpiece, be prepared for pure horror!
